Hershey Half Marathon
The Hershey Half Marathon is one of the three Chocolate Town challenges, the other two are the Hershey 10k and the Tour De Chocolate Town. I ran the Hershey 10k in April of this year. The Hershey Half is a fun race that begins and ends just outside of HersheyPark. This year the weather was a little cool with a slight wind. The sun came out and made it a wonderful morning. The course support was excellent with a special stop near the 12 mile mark for some famous Hershey chocolate. The course was hilly but enjoyable. The first 3 miles or so was run around the outside and inside of the park. The Park has some narrow turns and hills that were an added challlenge. I finished well with being able to take off about 3 minutes from my last half marathon in September. The finish provided space blankets, water, medals, and a food bag. The food bag had plenty of needed snacks was unique because it is reusable. I'll be putting a drink or two in it and using it for work. An awesome perk to registering for this race is that you get two passes to HersheyPark After Dark. So of course after I went back to the hotel and cleaned up. AND had a big breakfast, we came back and enjoyed the Park for a couple hours. Great times, I would even consider doing this one again. One funny story that happened when I was picking up my race packet was talking to the lady in front of me. We discussed the weather and I asked if she had been there for the 10k in April. It was cold and very windy that day. She said no, that it was a Disney year and that her husband had completed the Dopey Challlenge in Jan and that the both of them had run the Dumbo Double Dare in Disneyland in September. I laughed and told her that I had completed both of those as well. It's funny how small the world can be sometimes.
