Theorizing Mina's Empowering of Sebastian and Potential to Empower People in Star vs. the Forces of Evil

Sebastian is Mina Loveberry's loyal crow companion introduced in Season 4. He demonstrates unusually high intelligence for an animal: fully understanding complex human speech, executing intricate missions (e.g., infiltrating Butterfly Castle to poison Eclipsa's food in "Here to Help"), scavenging and reassembling ancient Solarian armor remnants across Mewni, and even operating machinery or tools when needed.

Canon evidence on his empowerment:

Mina explicitly states she "empowered" Sebastian with magic at some point in the past (confirmed in dialogue and supported by the SVTFOE wiki).

This empowerment grants him Amplified Animal Aptitude — super-animal intelligence, problem-solving, and mission execution far beyond a normal crow.

It is unclear exactly how Mina empowered him: whether through a modified version of the Solarian spells, a separate ritual, or residual exposure to Solaria's magic (since Mina is an ancient Solarian Warrior saturated with that power).

Theorizing if Mina can empower people the same way:

Likely yes, to some degree: Mina's core power comes from Queen Solaria's three Solarian spells (B.E.A.R., B.O.A.R., R.A.P.T.O.R.), which were originally designed for humanoid Mewmans to become super-soldiers. Moon later uses the same spells on a group of peasant Mewmans to create the new Solarian army. This proves the spells work on regular people, not just ancient warriors like Mina.

Mina, being the original and most experienced Solarian, would logically have full knowledge of (or intuitive access to) these spells. She recruited and prepared the new warriors for Moon to cast the final empowerment, showing she understands the process intimately.

Empowering Sebastian suggests Mina has developed either:

A toned-down or variant spell that works on non-Mewmans/animals (granting intelligence and loyalty without full hulking super-soldier transformation), or

The ability to channel Solarian magic more flexibly than Moon, perhaps due to her centuries of exposure.

Conclusion: If Mina can magically enhance a crow to near-sentient operative levels, it is highly plausible she could empower humanoid beings similarly — either with full Solarian Warrior transformation (like the army) or customized enhancements. The show never depicts her personally casting the spell on new recruits (Moon does that), but nothing in canon contradicts her capability. Her isolationist stance post-finale and lack of remaining allies are why we never see her try.

I wish I'd done more with myself in school. I watched a Movie today titled "Moxie" (found on Netflix) and it really got me thinking. I wish I'd done more to help others. Lift people up. Something to let people know they're not alone in this cruel world. So here I am now.

Hey. So, I imagine there’s a decent amount of crossover between the Tumblr community and the Tiktok community, considering how often I see TikTok videos posted here and just how... well, frankly, gay my Tiktok feed is. 

I have virtually no followers on here, likely in part because of my utter inability to keep a posting schedule in any kind of consistency. I’ve been posting on Tiktok lately for the heck of it, a short-lived series that was just “vibing to tiktok with breakfast” where, as the title implies, I’d pick random or fun audios to buzz to while eating in my kitchen. 

With the impending potential total ban of TikTok, I posted a video today inviting people to follow me on here and Instagram (oh god I have to figure out how to use Instagram), not just because I’d like to share my (slowly generated) creative content and maybe meet people, but because I want to be here to talk.

So I’ll reiterate my message: 

I’ve been seeing a lot of people online struggling lately. So am I, and it’s been a hard while for me lately but I think I’m starting to find my way out the other side of it. My heart hurts for all these people my age and younger who haven’t seen the sky for the clouds, and don’t know there’s a light at the end of this tunnel.

So for anyone who stumbles across this post, whether at random or from my Tiktok... I’m here to talk if you need it. We’re in this together, that’s what communities are for, supporting one another through the good and through the bad.
