Magickal Uses: reverse hexes and curses, attract money, use in prosperity, spells, common to use in dream magic, will promote pleasant freams, banish bad energy. Drink chamomile before performing a spell or meditation to prepare the body and mind.
Remedies: It is common to find chamomile in teas for sleep since the herb aids in sleep, helping insomnia and anxiety. Can be used to help teething in children. Relaxes the muscle so itās good to use after heavy excercise. An anti-inflammatory also great to soothe menstrual cramps. Helps with digestion, nausea and morning sickness. Immune Booster. Face oils or serums with chamomile fight acne and reduce the look of aging. Soothes earaches and toothaches
Note that chamomile can disrupt some medications and birth control. Do not consume if you are allergic to Ragweed pollen. Never consume essential oils and dilute with carrier oil before placing on skin.
Description: Chamomile is part of the Asteraceae family, the same family daisies come from. The most well known types are Roman chamomile and German chamomile. The herb is daisy-likeĀ in appearance but usually smaller than a daisy. A small, yellow, cone-like center surrounded by white petals and a green stem with feathery leaves. Strong smell and has an apple-like scent. A perrenial plant and blooms from May-September. Easy to grow and place it partly in shade. From my experience chamomile needs lots of room to grow and grows fast. Harvest the blooms regularly because last summer my one chamomile plant provided me with lots of blooms. Place blooms on a flat surface with parchement paper in a warm, dark place to dry forĀ 1 to 2 weeks. The plant isnāt native to North and South America but was brought over.Ā
History: Chamomile is part of the nine Anglo-Saxon sacred herbs, these herbs were often used to heal infections and antidotes. The egyptians used chamomile to cure a fever and crushed the flower to use in a embalming/preserving oil for the dead. They would also use it as an offering to their god Ra.The Romans used the flower to flavor, burn as an incense, and to but in salves and creams.The word chamomile was taken from the greek word for āground appleā due to its apple-like scent.
