hi! sorry if you've already answered this question but
do headmates always have to like. serve a purpose within the system? because only one of our headmates serve a purpose (which i refer to as just "the emotional panic button") while everyone else just sort of... hangs out. is that normal?

Hey hey ^-^/!!We were wondering if you or any of your followers have ever heard of a sysmate sorta. exploding and sorta i guess fusing very rapidly after several traumatic events and severe stress happing all at once.
We had a sysmate that existed a bit ago (or still exists?). He was our (co) host for several months, but about a month ago at least 3 huge (1 traumatic, 2 just extremely bad but i suppose 1 could be considered traumatic) events occured all within a few days of each other. All the events effected him very strongly. He decided to go dormant after these. Or so we thought and he said he was doing. Shortly after his dormancy we started noticing this feeling of him almost being a part of other sysmates. He also is sorta similar to our new host (including being the same exact character). But we've even noticed him in others. One big thing was his beliefs. He had a very strong belief, and we've noticed that belief now in a few other sysmates who didn't have that belief prior, or at least not as strongly. It also sorta feels like certain sysmates just slightly are him now. But not fully. We've even had certain sysmates be able to sorta see his exo memories, which is something very very few of us can do. Most sysmates can only remember their own exo memories, or those told to them.
We're just wondering if anyone's ever heard of anything like this, or experienced it themselves. We've never had anything similar of this happen at least that the system has known. We've had splits, funny enough a lot off him, and also fusions but their not like this. Probably later this week or early next week we're gonna try to get in contact with our gatekeeper to check on him and see if he does still exist. Thanks for any help you or anyone else can give!! Sorry for this being so long.
I couldn’t tell you for sure, but it does sound like he’s integrated into the system. He could definitely still exist as his own entity while also integrating parts into the system, so don’t worry!!
we’ve had this happen a lot to varying degrees of full integration, or just partial, but i wish you the best of luck figuring out!
Hey, I don't know if you remember us but recently we've been switching a LOT more than we used to. We used to think we had P-DID but now we're saying USDD and I guess we're curious as to why this has happened very suddenly and with increasing frequency??

Honestly, it could be that you're finding out more about your system and youre unmasking more. Your system could feel safe enough to be more. Or on the flip side you could have a stressor going on thats causing lots of switches. I honestly wish I could give you a straight answer but plurality is riddled with many possibilities and contradictions.
would there maybe be a word for a headmate who is technically a factive, but are somehow weird or different- like, for example, we have a factive of a youtuber except he showed up as the wrong species (a salamander). we don't know why he's a salamander, otherwise he's just like the rest of our factives, he just happened to become a new species upon being introjected. would there be a word for that lol
there’s stuff like fogtive!! Its sorta like an almost factive that might be what youre looking for! there’s also fuzztive which is the fictive version

Can alters have the same handwriting and art style?
Yep! They can share that aspect with everyone else, it’s totally normal!! I don’t quite have the braincells to get into the complexities why but I know many systems with same handwriting and many systems with different both are equally valid!

Heyyy so here’s the thing, that doesn’t make you mixed origin. Trauma-based systems get headmates all the time, it’s what CAUSES your system is the whole endo-vs-traumagenic debate.
It’s all really wishy washy and honestly, personally, I think its really dumb for the community to focus so much on, but anyway. Traumagenic systems can form headmates when not in a traumatic even, and endogenic systems can form headmates in response to trauma.
Hello hello, I have a question; is it possible for medications like antidepressants to affect switches and overall communication in a system? Cuz we’ve been on these specific meds for a while and for that same length of time our switches have been really hard to identify.
Definitely! Here’s the thing anon: medicine for mental health is going to mess with you brain functions, so its completely logical and common for it to affect your system. If you wanna think about it science-y, it changes the electrical activity in your brain, which is… how alters exist and communicate. It’s actively changing your brain, changes like this are normal. You can ask for other types of medication and experiment results, or try and learn to get around this, but its an extremely common occurrence!
