It was long trip and he probably should have driven, but, wanting time to think and try to form coherent thoughts, Groves settled on walking. The last time he spoke with Jeremy was nearly a month ago, the shock alone of what had become of his vanished family member was enough to have him retreating, then it brought a crippling guilt, and heâd been in a downward spiral.Â
When heâd been snapped out of it and begun taking care of himself again he decided to seek out Jeremy. The search led him to a house that he was told had been important before, a safe house. Theodore stopped at the head of the drive. It looked abandoned. He turned and looked around the property before venturing up to the door. Once there he stopped again, his knock was almost silent and naturally didnât prompt an answer so he let himself in - an easy matter.
Still, the place was silent and looking abandoned, aside from a fireplace glow across the hall. He turned that way and followed it. Again he came to a stop. The room wasnât completely abandoned, the fireplace was lit, and a crumpled form was in the middle of the floor. Theodore blinked and swallowed he couldnât make himself form a word and instead padded across the room, he sat on the floor and pulled Jeremy against him, wrapped his arms around his beloved son and dropped his chin on his shoulder.
