Join me on an unforgettable hike along the Henderson Falls Track via Won Wondah Falls in the stunning Great Otway National Park near Lorne, Victoria. This moderate trail offers a perfect blend of lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and unique wildlife encounters, making it a must-do for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
I started at the serene Sheoak Picnic Area, a great spot to gear up before entering the trail. As I step into the Fern Paradise Entryway, I was immersed in a world of towering tree ferns and vibrant greenery.
Crossing the charming Sheoak Creek Wooden Bridge, the path lead me deeper into the fern forest.
Walking up to the ridge line, I enjoyed panoramic views of the surrounding Otways before descending to the viewing platform of the somewhat secluded and mesmerizing Won Wondah Falls.
The trail then got a little adventurous with some muddy sections, adding a bit of fun challenge as I navigated through the damp earth.
Surrounded by tree fern abundance, the path felt like a prehistoric jungle.
I then stopped for a quick look at Henderson Creek from the bridge, enjoying the beautiful view it beholds. Water is flowing, I feel anticipation of what lies ahead.
The grand finale: I arrive at Henderson Falls. I stand in awe as the graceful waterfall cascades down over the mossy rockface. Mist in the air and providing a refreshing end to the journey.
This hike is about 4-5 km return, with some steep sections and steps, so wear good shoes and bring water. It's ideal for families or solo hikers looking to connect with Australia's natural beauty. Whether you're from Victoria or visiting Lorne, this track showcases the best of the Great Otway National Park ... enjoy, and happy hiking 😊
