Thalin watched quietly as Blair and her cousin wandered out of the tavern. His head felt dim from the day before, still aching from what he’d done. But this was important, he knew it. His hand rested around a mug of coffee, really the only thing he wanted to drink right now. His grip tightened when he heard the first clash of blades. Shit... went worse than I thought it would. He stood to leave, his pace quick, until he heard a loud crash, and Rocks cry.
Thalin rushed out to see his friend slamming against some magic barrier, Light he didn’t know what was going on. He remained silent though, watching Blair fight with Solaire. Thalin ground his teeth, there was nothing he could do, and then he thought, I shouldn’t do anything...
The fight was going poorly for her, but Thalin held still. She won’t give up so easily, you should know this. As the paladin held the blade before her, Thalin shifted forward slightly, but felt a pull to stay back. The moments the sun-crazed bastard spent gloating felt like eternity. “Dammit Blair... get up...” Thalin whispered to himself, “You’re a hero, the hell does he have on you?”
Then she made her move, and Light was it good. He couldn’t see all of what was happening, but he damn well saw what was at work. The pale light that radiated from her was foreign to him, yet it was awe inspiring, if not a bit comforting, Like a watchful mother... Thalin continued to watch the display, feeling his face twist to pure delight, she’d done it. Light above, she’d done it! As the duel finished, Thalin wandered back to the tavern, he wasn’t worried for Blair, not anymore. He peeked up at the sky, and then brought his eyes down, remembering his final words to her last night, “I... I’m sorry if I’m reading this wrong, but thank you, for helping her.” Thalin tilted his head down and continued into the bar.
