                     STEVE HEARS HIS PHONE PINGING WITH A NEW MESSAGE, but he's sitting on the porch steps trying to brush out Cookie's fur, so he ignores it for the time being. It's only after dumping half a dog's worth of hair into the trash can that he remembers somebody texted him, and he goes to grab his phone off the coffee table. It takes him 10 seconds to understand what's going on; he recently took up some art classes again, and they're doing some nude paintings at the moment, so maybe that's why he isn't thrown off by the male genitals suddenly popping up. It's aesthetically pleasing. (He tries not to think about other things.) He checks the sender and raises a single brow. Now, Pietro Maximoff tends to be a little ass, sometimes. Not in a bad way, just… Well. Good thing Steve can be an asshole, too. (Though he'd honestly like to know what kind of reaction the guy expected to get.)

Well, so much for discretion. He feels a little flustered getting called out like that, so he takes a step back and crosses his arms.

Today, he picks up smells of the sheerest hint of sweat eroded down by air; light. Metallic. A little bloody. What, could he blame him for having an eager nose for Pietro?

"I mean, I hope you’re not implying that I fuck cherry pies.”

He clearly wasn’t, but he’s rolling with the joke now anyway.

he’s  been  traversing  the  realms  tightening  down  on  the  chaos  for  a  long  while  now  .  righting  the  wrongs  of  the  chaos  his  brother  caused  at  one  time  or  another  and  his  first  stop  should  have  been  asgard  ,  that  is  true  .  yet  ,  he  finds  himself  here  standing  in  the  doorway  of  pietro’s  place  in  the  middle  of  the  night  .  his  boots  left  at  the  door  and  a  cloak  slung  over  the  sofa  .  his  steps  are  light  ,  especially  for  a  large  as  he  is  but  something  tells  him  that  pietro  is  expecting  him  .  

upon  entry  into  the  bedroom  ,  a  silhouette  is  seen  on  the  bed  and  not  moved  even  though  ,  thor  knows  the  man  to  be  a  bit  more  vigilante  than  that  .  a  few  steps  is  all  that  is  needed  to  close  the  gap  between  him  and  the  bed  and  knees  press  firmly  into  the  mattres  ,  one  moving  in  front  of  the  other  to  take  his  place  beside  the  other  .  the  smell  of  the  room  is  familiar  and  welcoming  ,  something  he’s  missed  .  

what  has  been  missed  more  is  that  snark  he’s  come  to  enjoy  and  despise  all  at  the  same  time  .

the  cat  has  been  sitting  at  pietro’s  feet  for  a  good  twenty  minutes,   staring  at  him.   every  time  he  tries  to  move,   the  cat  hisses  and  growls,   extending  its  claws  in  an  attempt  to  herd  its  prey.  feed  him,   pietro.  for  all  our  sakes.

Can I kiss you?

They’ve been sitting close for the better part of the day and evening now. Just talking. Enjoying one another’s company. Inside a cabin that Steve’s been hold up in for a few months now. Out of reach from most of the world. Except for the people he doesn’t mind finding him. Pietro is one of those. And his arrival on Steve’s doorstep was both a surprise and a welcome one. 

The windows are open letting in the cool breeze that a rainstorm brought through the forest. Wet leaves and earth flow through the air. It’s a smell Steve’s come to love. One that he doesn’t mind the long white curtains billowing as they let it in. Steve’s facing Pietro who matches his positioning on the couch for the most part. Both men are turned towards one another. Steve’s got one knee touching the back of the sofa while the other foot rests against the hardwood floor. 

Closer and closer they’ve gotten. As voices fall to whispers and Steve’s got no idea why. Not that it matters. Listening to Pietro’s voice in the tone it’s in is soothing in a way that makes his insides warm up and has him watching as certain words are formed by lips that--Steve finds himself lightly licking his own lips as he wonders if the words are as caramel smooth as the other man’s voice. Is that what they’d taste like? Right. Conversation.

Blue jerks up to meet the colors of Pietro’s eyes. His own crinkle at their corners as he smiles. One half vested in the conversation and one half embarrassed. Cause he’s pretty sure he just got caught zoning out staring at the man’s mouth. When the question comes, it causes Steve’s belly to cave in in a way that he’d be hard pressed to admit wasn’t head spinningly thrilling to feel. Like a rush of adrenaline from a carnival Tilt-A-Whirl.
