“Interesting eyes you have,” the goddess murmured, her voice low and almost melodic, though she kept a measured distance between them. Her gaze lingered, studying the stranger as if peeling back layers only she could see. The air between them felt charged, a quiet current humming beneath the stillness.

“Stanford thinks you’ve been holding out on us.”

Stanford thought no such thing (as far as Fiddleford was aware), but surely he wouldn’t mind if McGucket took some initiative.

“We think you can do more than the party tricks you’ve been givin’ us so far. Your powers are near limitless, aren’t they? Don’t you think it’s time we see what you’re really capable of? I mean, you wouldn’t want to outlive your usefulness, would you?”

The spirit recoiled back, drawing his hands close to his chest and turning his gaze to the floor.

Dorian shone bright and thought loud.

The man had the ability to draw everyone’s eyes in a room to him just by entering. The same could be said for his mind. When Dorian was close Cole struggled to keep from hearing things he shouldn’t.

“I’m not digging. You’re yelling. I can’t block it out if you don’t think softer”

Easier said than done.

Watching the blond recoil made the mage feel a bit sorry for his harsh words. Still, he glanced away as the spirit continued to speak.

It was not as if he meant to broadcast his thoughts for passing spirits.

“Than how do I stop yelling?” Dorian finally questioned back, “I do not wish to have you say everything I am feeling. Teach me how to make it stop.”
