@bladewarde: ❛ yes, i am still 'ere, full of regret, & shame, & wine. ❜ adkha day drinking laera, really? hi goose!
❝ then you're not doing it right, ❞ she says lightly, wrinkling her nose at the nearly empty bottle. wine, first & foremost, was an antidote to shame, a banisher of regrets. ❝ & no wonder; i'd be full of shame & regret, too, if all i had to drink was that swill. ❞
she's stashed away a few bottles found from their adventuring, little treasures tucked away for, ideally, celebration, but this works too. a wave of her hand & a ghostly imprint of hers suddenly hangs in the air, its green form blurred at the edges, & she dismisses it with another silent wave. it sails off as she finds a seat next to her companion, sharing the borrowed bedroll in the austere supply tent & arranging her dress so the hem doesn't curl in the mud.
when she's just finished getting settled, the apparition returns carrying a bottle by its long neck & two goblets crossed at the stems, all of which she takes one by one & arrays between them. the stained cream label reads baldur's grape in an even hand, a vintage meant to sweeten their arrival to the city. but, well, even she can admit that's starting to seem a dimmer prospect.
best not to let it go to waste. alara lightly shakes the bottle at laera so she can read the label, too. ❝ now this should put you in far better spirits. ❞
she pours a generous glass into the silver sapphire encrusted goblet & hands it to her new friend, then the more modestly decorated solid gold one for herself, before dipping hers to delicately clink laera's in a silent toast. cheers.
& bottoms up. she does, after all, have quite some catching up to do, & alara downs her glass in one go. it's got a full, velvet - smooth finish, although the tart notes play altogether sharper than the dessert wines she's more accustomed to. still, it's bracing. &, more importantly, good.
she pours another glass for herself.
❝ good wine, pretty drinkware, decent company… what's left to dismay? ❞ she lets the question hang in the air, just in case there's something laera would like to say. wine, in her experience, is also the best way to work out problems. enough of it, & nothing seems insurmountable.
