@hellhour tht sucks that ur the only trans person at events?? where do you live that theres so little trans people if i may ask?
The experience I was thinking of was in NYC at my art schoolâs lgbt club (I know there are definitely some trans ppl at that school tho) but the time I was at an event they started talking about a show with a trans character and I said something like âas a trans person i dont like how theyre portrayed as always miserable and the Trans Experience is awful and we all die young, there are never any shows about trans ppl going on adventuresâ and everyone got quiet and just stared at me for a few seconds, and I realised that (most likely) none of the people there were also trans. They started talking about different shows right after I think. I also found out that most of the lgb(t) events were being held at the womenâs dorm and I did not want to go back in there after I spent my second year being miserable in the womenâs dorm bc thatâs when I realised I was definitely trans (not a woman). (And also when I lived there some ppl made some weird jokes about lesbians, and everyone assumed everyone was straight and it was icky for me)... But back to that night at the lgbt club I just remember going home that night feeling so miserable bc I realised that most lgbt spaces and media are really just LGB with no T considered. Even at an art school in nyc. (Ofc that also means everyone is busy and slightly antisocial bc its school, but still) Iâm pretty sure I got home and was miserable All that night bc the morning after was pretty memorable with me in my gross sweats being asked to hang out by a cute person in my dorm lmao.
Right now, though, Iâm in a shitty conservative town in a generally ââliberalââ county and there is maybe one lgbt organization and I canât even go to any events here bc I have to be in the closet around my family, not to mention that all of them are usually either 21+ at a bar or for lgbt youth or sth. There is nothing social to do in this shitty county except drink, and I donât, so I have nothing. :â^)
