Summary:

“No.” Patrick says firmly, causing Pete to stop in his tracks.

“…No?…” Pete repeats slowly, trying to comprehend what he just walked into. “No to what?”

“We’re not setting a fucking piano on fire for your artistic fucking vision.”

“Aw come on, it’s a cool idea.”

“It’s abso-fucking-lutely not.”

…. In which Patrick, in his domestic bliss, doesn’t read the set notes for the Hella Mega Tour and fails to notice that part of setlist includes his piano being on set on fire.

Guess who decided to posting after what? 3+ years? Yup, it’s me.

It’s been quite some time, I’m not gonna lie. My writing, as one would have guessed, had taken a mini-hiatus of sorts. Sure I’ve been writing bits here and there, but nothing post-worthy, until this little gem.

So this fic was the plot bunny brain child of a conversation had with  @allkindsofplatinumandpercocet​ and @smalltalktorture over brunch the day after the Houston stop of the Hella Mega Tour of how the conversation of setting the piano on fire might have gone  when planning the set. And well…the plot bunny wouldn’t leave me alone the whole 7 hour trip back home and it just evolved into domestic fluff (which, I’ll forever be a sucker for, and this era just gives me domestic feels…).

It’s taking me sometime to get back into he groove of things as I’ve learned I keep jumping around from WIPs to WIPs (looks at the five page list of WIPS made over the course of a week….sighs). All that said, that took me about a week and a half of working on this on and off to hammer out about 10 pages, but eh, I’m a bit rusty.

What does this mean for my already posted WIPs? More on that in a later post, just know that those are still a WIP (especially witch!Pete) and some of my currently posted fics might be getting a re-write in the future.

looks like bnd2 is being released under island, which means this is likely island’s send-off for them; seems unlikely that they’ll be renewing their contract under island, the way they keep talking about being label-less lol

remember that the first hiatus occurred because the boys all felt suffocated and like they couldn’t get any of their other creative juices out. meanwhile, one of andy’s other bands SECT just released a new surprise album (big recommend if you’re into hardcore and metal stuff; it’s very high-energy) and is also touring this fall to celebrate its release. The Damned Things are also lined up to do some more concerts this fall/winter, along with festival appearances. patrick just scored some movies and pete has an ice cream truck.

basically, it looks like they didn’t want to rush something that wouldn’t be finished in time for this (lbr they learned from having to push back mania) especially because everyone’s been busy with their other creative outlets. and honestly, good! that makes sense to me - i’m not sure i’d want to release a shitton of new material in a tour that’s already as full as this one, yknow
