I can't really guess how long they stayed together, but as you've seen in these translations, Gear kept its promise to repair the roof for a full 200 years.And in the translation on the next page, we see that Kuro is reunited with Gear after exactly 200 years, meaning Gear waited for Kuro's return for 200 years and even went to Japan to look for him(poor gearಥ_ಥ)
