2/9/16.
Toby from “The Finest Kiss” hasn’t been as regular with his excellent blog as he was a few years ago. But when he does post, it’s almost always worth the wait. I also like that he provides reference points in his reviews (he usually points me in a new direction - Jim Sullivan, Moose, Hopkirk and Lee)
So today I saw his post about Dreamin’ Wild. This band is yet another Aussie (Geelong to be precise) band, but really doesn’t sound too much like other Aussie bands. If I was going to take a stab, I’d say they’re closest to Totally Mild.
But, this is a beautifully languid release. There is a semi-bossa nova sound here (made obvious by the title of the second track). Be sure to listen to the digital only bonus track.
This is released on Moontown Records - responsible for the fantastic Heirophants and Contrast releases from last year. Moontown really has separated themselves from other great Australian releases.
