A concept that has been sitting in my mind for far too long. I will probably write it someday when I can string two coherent sentences together.

Yandere Duke who adopted an orphaned child to become his protégé. The child was mostly left alone and didn't really learn affection. But slowly the Duke softened, not loudly but after a little while he started to ask more then "How was your lesson?", he started leaving books for his protege and expected to discuss them the next time they meet for dinner. 

The adopted child only calls the Duke "Sir" or "Your Grace" when they need to be more formal. A servant once asked the child why didn't they call the Duke father after it was almost painfully clear that the Duke treated the child as his own. The child's only response was "He is my Sir." As if that explained everything and maybe to the child it did: Sir was father to them. They never had a father or even learned what it meant but they know what Sir means and Sir is their Duke. The child only uses "Your Grace" in public because that is formal and respectful but Sir is for private. The child's voice softens and they call out quietly, "Sir?" Like they know that is the call the Duke will answer. Now we can have the Duke a bit possessive about the Sir title after a while. Where almost without meaning he bristles when someone else calls him "Sir" in a formal tone because he has grown used to the soft and trusting tone it is said with.
