𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐑 had contemplated rest , for eyes grew heavy and his body soon followed , but kingo fought to keep awake . he had missed her , an inseparable pair parted for too long ; the heart had struggled to repair , but with scars and bowed edges it came together enough to cope .
time had flittered away with chatter , tears , and contented laughter . the sky remained dark here , the ever present candlelight had TRICKED kingo into thinking it late . he leans into the plush of their shared seat , head near melting into the fabric as he watches her speak with vigour through narrowing eyes . a sweeping glance to the fire would curse it , its prickling heat doomed to cast him into an overdue sleep before their talk is over .
it must not have taken long after his last conscious thought ( how glad he is to be with her again ) before slumber takes its welcoming embrace . he does not feel it when she moves from the seat beside him , not when she moves across the floorboards to exit the room . kingo doesn’t stir when she gently lays his head down against a pillow propped against the arm , and wraps a quilt around his body .
