#hebrew typography

I’m straying from my focus on ancient texts here, but I found this so fascinating that I had to share.

This is a Hebrew alphabet.  Really.  It’s from a 1932 book called The New Hebrew Typography (link), and it’s a direction in Zionism that was never taken: the Romanization of the modern Hebrew alphabet, in order to differentiate it from the typography of the Bible and other religious texts.  The author argued that the new letters were more “harmonious,” a truly “modern typography.”

AJU day 3: We’re done! The drop shadows are finished and we move on to the highlights and shading in the letters themselves. Then we painted the calligraphic lettering on top of that, did some clean-up, and called it a day.

"Hapinatit" is a cooperative food market who attend to bring this kind of marketing into the city of tel aviv. the brand has 3 brunches around the city and based on volunteering of its own members.

As the brand has no owners, which means that the community owns it, it has to save as much money as it can. most of the products are packed by the volunteers. the idea of using the tapes, saves money as it used as the label of the product and at the same time the way of closing it.
