Song Review(s): Ruthie Foster - “Heartshine” and “That’s All Right”
Ruthie Foster channels the Tedeschi Trucks Band in a big way on “Heartshine.”
A soulful number goosed with a choir of backgrounds and a chorus of brass, the song, like “Rainbow” that preceded it, is a Foster co-write with Larkin Poe’s Rebecca Lovell and the Shakedown’s Tyler Bryant. Unlike the middle-of-the-road “Rainbow,” it finds Foster in more familiar, friendlier, territory.
The same is true for her blue version of Elvis Presley’s “That’s All Right.” But this one skips the extra voices and horns for a slinky rhythm section and finds Foster scatting in call-and-response with acoustic slide guitar.
Though it’s a remake, Foster’s “Alright” is more original than the original “Heartshine.” But both songs finds her embracing the style her followers keep coming back for and that “Rainbow” eschewed.
This creates hope for Mileage, which arrives Aug. 23.

What do u think about Debbie Devizo? On one hand, I feel bad for the trauma she must’ve been through on the island, but on the other hand I dislike that she never spoke up about what her powers were doing to Devizo and cheating on him.
Same. She’s not my favorite, because she willingly decided to keep her powers a secret until decades later, probably ruined her husband’s life and she’s STILL a Devizo. Donald didn’t divorce her before he tossed her on that island. But she did spend those decades fighting for survival on that island.

It was a warm day in the Unken household. In fact, it might've been a bit too warm... Heartshine looked forward to a relaxing nap to pass by the heat of high noon. Having chosen an appropriately-sized pillow in the den, she settled down on it, smiling to herself from the soft, squishy comfort the pillow provided. The young filly was just about to rest her head down when the sound of hoofsteps and an unhappy huff reached her ears. Blinking once, she looked forward to realize her brother, Senkou, had approached. The expression on his face made it very clear; he wasn't happy. Frowning in worry toward her brother, she spoke up, voice dripping with concern. "Umm... hey Senkou. I thought you and Mommy were outside...?" "No. She's busy with that dumb ram..." Senkou replied, glowering and grumbling, practically looking like he was going to start whining. Heartshines ears folded backwards. It had only been a week since their parents had adopted the new ram, and had even named him Juchoi, despite that he certainly must've had his own name. Neither foal was sure of how to feel about their new 'brother', especially since the ram had been too scared to speak even one single word toward the duo. "Oh..." "This isn't fair... Why did Mom and Dad have to adopt a new foal?! They're already so busy all the time, now we'll probably never see them!" Senkou complained, unable to help but raise his voice a little in his disappointment. "I hate him... He just takes Mom and Dad away... And he's so scared all the time! He's even more of a scardy-pants than Shadow is!" The colt groaned his frustration. Juchoi was even a year older than the two of them, and yet he acted like a baby... Heartshine, however, couldn't help but empathize a little... She'd witnessed other young ponies harassing the ram, so even as she felt the pang of getting even less attention from their parents, it was difficult to be angry with someone who'd been victimized, "...Maybe he's just super shy and nervous? I mean, all the other colts and fillies make fun of him, 'cause he's a ram..." she suggested. At this, Senkou paused a little, eyes downcast. It reminded him of Shadow, whenever the young deer visited with her family she'd usually get odd stares from other ponies. "...I guess..." He grumbled, hesitant to sympathize with the young ram, "But I still don't like him..." Neither foal had noticed the quiet, retreating sound of hoofsteps down the hall.
