        not at all!! so yes absolutely, when I say that Jack is impulsive that doesn’t mean that he’s impulsive about everything all the time. he actually has remarkable self-control in a lot of situations, most of which involve his temper and generally keeping a level head regardless of what is thrown at him. he’s not impulsively violent or angry for instance; his impulsivity tends to manifest itself in a more mundane and hedonistic way, connected to his desires to be free and selfish and do whatever he pleases. Jack’s character symbolises that urge to do what you want no matter the consequences: he’s the proverbial devil on a lot of the other characters’ shoulders ( though Will and Elizabeth primarily ) who is advocating for them to say that one thing that might piss somebody else off, or do something that society or others would normally frown upon. impulsivity is directly related to the idea of self-expression and not caring what other people think.

       but in terms of what Jack is good and bad with in regards to acting impulsively, the urges do tend to go against his self-preservation instinct quite frequently lmao. there’s a boyishness about Jack’s character that means a lot of his impulsive moments are also childish ones: such as when he’s trying on different hats during the tavern brawl in DMC, or his stealing the miniature of Beckett and placing it inside the cannon when he’s escaping the Endeavour in AWE. they’re all kinda moments where clearly the more sensible, survival-focused, seasoned pirate side of Jack is probably thinking that it would be a stupid idea, but the inner child in him is like lol let’s do it anyway. 

       and that’s important because honestly he’s not all that impulsive when it comes to more serious matters? I think aside from his urge to use his, again, child-like honesty with people to goad them into getting his arse kicked, we don’t really see it in the more serious aspects of his life. like I don’t even really want to say that Jack is impulsive with his vices like alcohol and sex either? yes he indulges, but with alcohol in particular I think most of the time Jack knows what he’s doing when he’s drinking ( and when he doesn’t it’s a rare thing and generally connected to his self-destructive behaviour and urges ) and is making a conscious choice to enjoy himself. perhaps the only thing is that a part of his harebrained plans involve an element of impulsivity: of having faith in his ability to make this mad capped idea he came up with on the fly work and not result in his imminent death, but that’s more of a mix of being impulsive but also being intelligent and quickly able to size up a situation, so the ideas work in tandem.

        Jack’s childhood was indeed an absolute Mess but he has a few good childhood memories -- and I’m gonna split this into canon and modern because I always need an excuse to talk about the latter.

        so in terms of canon ( and also modern, tbh ), the majority of his good childhood memories come from the first seven years of his life, before his mother died and things rapidly went to shit lmao. Jack doesn’t remember an awful lot of that part of his life, but he remembers spending a lot of time with her, playing on the beach and reading together and her pretty much being his only friend for those first years of his life ( as on Madagascar/Shipwreck there were very few, if any, other children around -- and this extends to modern verse too as Jack was homeschooled until his mother’s death ). he has a few others in his canon after her death, most of which involve being on a ship or the sea in some capacity, such as chilling out on some remote island beach in his downtime as a part of Teague’s crew or spending time up in the crow’s nest where he could see the ocean spread out for as far as the eye could see. he also has some good memories thanks to Teague’s dog ( the dog with the keys from the POTC movies, there’s a whole story behind him ). whenever Jack was left to his own devices on Shipwreck, the dog ( whom Ace and I have christened Tim ) would nearly always accompany him on his adventures exploring the hidden coves and forgotten alleyways.

          modern follows a similar pattern: he spent a lot of time at the seaside growing up, and he also had Tim for company. but in modern he also has some happy memories of spending time at his grandfather’s garage. he’d often go there after school to avoid having to go home to either Teague or his grandmother ( who treated Jack far more harshly than Teague ever did ), and he’d help his grandfather out with fixing up some of the cars and learning about how they worked. it quickly became something of a passion to him as he grew older ( he knows a lot about cars. i know next to nothing, but Jack knows a lot ) and for a little while at least it was something of a sanctuary away from the abuse and verbal berating of being at home.

14. A random fact

Hmmmm.... well.... I started working at a nursing/rehab facility last year and a random fact I’ve learned that as people get older getting a UTI makes people go a little crazy. Like I’ve had people start talking about the IRS coming in to see them (but no one except family or nurses have come by) or fixing things that aren’t broken (but the maintenance guy comes in to “check” on it anyways) or sometimes not make any sense. And once the UTI goes away they’re back to normal. So I thought that was neat.

Im a fast learner but an eaqually fast forgetter... I can draw and surprisingly even tho I haven’t in a while, if I start again I can still art as well as I did before so that’s nice.... I’m good bringing ideas to the table but not of executing them myself.... I can do many things if it’s to help someone else complete their tasks or lighten their load, but I cannot sit down to do my own stuff... i can explain things good to people when they’re having trouble understanding stuff... i sing but I’m an alto so like my range is limited but that doesn’t stop me from trying to make Kpop covers when I’m bored (no ones gonna hear them unless I’m happy with them tho so...). idk of these are talents... these are more things I do... I guess

A smaller one named blue (he’s blue dabadee dabba dai). a lot of Elsa plush dolls (one for every outfit and then a Christmas Anna and kristoff and a coronation Anna). A LOT of small TsumTsums like 3-4 medium ones and a big groot one. Dean and Cas plushies. A big bt21 Mang plush head (thanks bae). Little stingray named pancake. Vanellope. A buckwheat goblin and a black hug plush from the Kdrama Goblin: The Lonely and Great God. A care bear baby I’ve had since I inherited it from my sister (handmedown my sister is very much alive). 49. A song that made me cry

Recent ones that come to mind are from Frozen 2. Show Yourself was my happy cry song (I feel like it’s the first time I had a happy cry song because all other songs I think about crying are sad heartbreak songs that remind me of sadness) and The Next Right Thing (sad cry).... An honorable mention is Astro’s Bloom just from feeling the music, then I learned the lyrics (didn’t make it better). But I knew if they had sung that song live at their last concert I would have ruined my make up but they didn’t and I was glad and disappointed.
