7. How have they dealt with losing people?
oh POORLY. When he lost his family he was a HUSK. When he sister was gone he spent years trying to find her and was so mindless and purposeless. When the Scions in HW just disappeared he was so .. agitated. Prickly. Even now, with better coping mechanisms, a better outlook on life, his initial reaction to losing someone is.. such a violent eruption of emotions. Like why couldn’t I save you. He’d writhe in sadness. He’d be so mad. If someone killed someone he cared for he’d stop at nothing to see their end. It’s hard not to go back into bad habits when you’re met with such grief. And it’s so hypocritical of him. He swore he’d never use his strength again but if he were to lose you... :\ he can’t promise he can control the Whims Of The Heart, and i think it’s because he acts so purely on his heart that he would become such a wreck. He feels so much. He’d become so undone. He’d definitely need.. some.. comfort from another person because if he turmoiled alone for too long.... :^\ ...
20. When in the story was their highest point? When were they at their lowest?
I’ll start with the lowest. I’m almost tempted to say ARR, because even after reuniting with his sister that he sought so long for, it cured nothing. He was still depressed. But.. I think, after finally feeling a semblance of warmth and purpose, and for it to be all stripped away again, he in the very beginning of HW was probably his lowest point. Then later the vault happening like. He did NOT catch a break. He was explosive. He was emotional. He was.. needy for something, desperate for anything, he’d get sick from how hard he’d cry and he’d retch. Then he’d be silent. He was miserable. It took a lot for him to open his eyes again to the beauty of the world and I think Ysayle helped him a lot (THEN SHE DIED? LIKE.) It took a lot for him to learn that loss wasn’t the end (im looking at my above answer and will repeat: it’s hard to fully cope and grow from loss and grief for him even to this day.) It took a lot of practice, and the constant reassurance of those around him to keep fighting and to live. To live on and be strong. So his lowest would definitely be.. HW, even if it were to have a happy end. (THANK GOD.)
His highest? Hmmmm.. As expected as this answer is, probably the end of Endwalker. The journey had finally met its end and he was alive. He was strong enough. He toughed it out. His friends are alive. Through the darkest depths of despair they live and conquered and the sun still shines so brightly overhead.
(While notably him finding himself and finally expressing warmth and compassion in SB is an honorable mention, there was still so much going on, so much weighing on his heart that to fully feel at his highest wasn’t plausible, but it was a point where he, at the time, had felt happiness again after so long, and it felt so nice to breathe again.)
He probably cried when it was all over idk :\
