Bandanna Dee!!!! Everyone's favorite pretty face and deadly warrior!!!
Headcanon A (realistic): Bandanna Dee trains with Kirby and the others in order to get stronger! They actually aspire to be strong enough to fight by Kirby’s side, help beat back eldritch horrors with god-levels of power and the like - but while they've made amazing strides in their fighting skills and are unparalleled by any other Dee, they still pale in comparison to Kirby's devastation, and elect to stay on the sidelines as support in the meantime. It admittedly bothers them, but they recognize that they still have far to go and try to focus on just doing what they can to help.
Headcanon B (while it may not be realistic it is hilarious): Kirby absolutely has “embarrassing childhood stories” about Bandanna Dee, and while Kirby doesn't totally get what's so embarrassing about them, as young as he still is, that doesn't mean he isn't willing to share them with others just to poke fun at Bandanna Dee - or sometimes even in misplaced pride for his friend. Bandanna Dee just wishes he’d stop telling the damn caterpillar story to all of their subordinates, they're trying to pretend they have a little dignity goddammit.
Headcanon C (heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends): This may be one of the more tamer angst hcs of mine tbh? But Bandee used to be childhood friends with Kirby, they were both about the same age…. or so Bandee thought. But as Bandee got older it became abundantly clear that Kirby was not, and they are now almost a young adult while Kirby is exactly as they remember them from when they were like, 6 (but with more trauma). Admittedly, Bandee worries a little that Kirby won't want to spend time with them when they're an old geezer of a dee, and he's still maybe 10. but they appreciate being able to help take care of Kirby as an older sibling, in ways they couldn't have helped him before.
Headcanon D (unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.): I got really stuck on this one tbh? But I think the best I’ve got is, I consider that for a ‘subordinate’ Bandanna Dee is actually pretty overly familiar with Dedede and Meta Knight, even for their young age compared to the other two. It helps that the knight and king are a little immature and foolish at times, because while Bandanna Dee is still learning, they have a relatively good head on their shoulders. So they find it easy to take advantage of this fact and poke fun at the adults when they have their thoughtless moments.
