Round 4 Hackett's Lake day 2 - Chris on the water heading for the start/finish line
Round 4 Hackett's Lake day 2 - Chris approaching the 'Wall of Death' land section
Hackett's Lake day 2 - hot!!
Sunday was a gorgeous day; hot, sunny and not much wind - ideal hovercraft racing conditions!
There was a large public turnout to watch the Race of Champions charity race with Carl Froch (WBC Super Middleweight Champion) and other celebrities, and we were treated to an impressive display from Lee Stone - the current World Freestyle Jetski Champion.
The brilliant weather was matched with some excellent racing, with notable results of Chris finishing 6th in the second F503 race, Hobo finishing 6th in the second F2 race and finishing 7th in F2 overall for the weekend. So far this season Team Hobarr are currently placed 8th in F503, and 5th in F2.
We now take a bit of a break before a 3 day Round 5 in Gang Warily, Southampton on August Bank Holiday weekend - 27th - 29th August. Only 7 weeks to go...

The engine lives!
We have just found out that our engine has been fixed, so an early start will be required on Saturday to get it back into the craft in time for the first practice session at Hackett's Lake.
Fingers crossed for the weather, and a great weekend's racing!
A tremendous thanks go to Conrad at ConAir Sports

Hovercraft Racing Round 3 - Day 1, Towcester: The Ride of Shame! Hobo has to be brought back to the paddock by recovery marshalls. The engine managed to last until the end of the race, but subsequently stopped on the lap back to the paddock.
Hovercraft Racing Round 3 - Day 1, Towcester: Claire and Hobo repairing the mounting between the duct and hull after damage sustained from the first practice session.
Hovercraft Racing Round 3 Report - Towcester, Northampton
Just 2 short weeks after the last race meeting in Sheffield and we were back to the venue of last year's World Championships - Towcester Racecourse in Northampton.
Round 3 started well, with Chris in the first 503 race up to 5th by the end of the first lap, managing to capitalise on a number of craft struggling on the water, before hitting the bank of the land transition a few laps later and ending his race early with damage to the front left of the craft.
Hobo, freshly qualified from Novices, finished 6th in the first F2 race, also managing to gain from other craft having problems on the water, and finised 8th in the second 503 race; but engine problems on the way back to the paddock were an early indication of a series of problems that would ultimately lead to the end of our racing for the weekend.
A miserable, wet and windy Sunday was spent fault finding on the engine with little success. The 500cc twin cylinder Rotax 503 engine will go to be serviced at ConAir Sports near Banbury in the hope of finding the elusive problem.
Round 4 of the National Championships will be held at Hacketts Lake near Nottingham the weekend after next - 25/26th June - and should be a very challenging course with more water than Rother Valley. Pack your towels and spare sets of clothes...
