That is until the night he finally acts upon it and Sully suddenly can’t go back to his room cause a certain someone just thought he’d be more comfortable against his chest. Then he wonders why he didn’t do it sooner. 

Sid can’t decide whether Kafka should live or die really. It was one of the most humiliating displays he had to put on in his entire life (although he secretly had a good laugh at it) and it was all thanks to the smiling thief. When Kafka tries to make up to him, he immediately requests the most expensive pack he can find on the ship and he better taste the lord’s tears when he’s smoking it. He never does taste it, of course, but the effort counts.

Sid’s not one to refuse alcohol, much less if it’s offered. However, he was definitely surprised when it was Henry who offered it. He was convinced the man hated him after making a machine that would zap at him so when Henry shows up with a fine bottle he had to make sure at first that the bottle wasn’t poisoned. They both end up so drunk Sid can’t even recall how there’s a table turned upside down and several unscrewed machines. He also can’t recall how he ended up falling asleep while clinging Henry’s arm. Fortunately, the engineer never spoke of it and Sid will never bring it up.

Sid was a bit incredulous when someone assumed he was the captain and looked at Jaewon wondering why he hadn’t reacted. Once he realized it was him they were talking to, he was on a roll. He wanted to show the other he wasn’t just all talk and that all the insults he had thrown at him in Zion had fundament. He did take obvious pleasure in pretending to be Jaewon, making subtle jabs at the real captain while playing his role but all he came across was as a grumpy, bad-tempered man who wanted to shoot everything. It all went smoothly and they managed to get out of it unscathed. In the end, he can’t help but crack a small smile at Jaewon’s laughter even though he’s sure the captain is livid deep down.

Sid’s definitely annoyed at Kafka’s masterpieces on his face and Kafka’s really lucky he has never been woken up by him (you sly thief). But he guesses it’s a minor annoyance compared to the care Kafka has for his well being. Sometimes Kafka finds his blankets or pillows by his doorstep with some shiny trinket and a note that ranges from a “>:(” to a funny bad drawing. It’s stupid and pointless but he figures Kafka could use a laugh out of his bad art skills.

He did it mostly to annoy Sully and get his attention. He wasn’t expecting him to actually do it, much less gladly. At first, he thought Sully was mocking him, treating him like a little kid just to mess with him but after the third and fourth time, Sid just accepted that maybe the steward didn’t mind at all. The amount of skill and care Sully has when preparing the fruit reminds him of his own mother who always made sure to use up everything from the fruit and cut it evenly so everyone could have at least two slices. He always shares his portion with Sully, sometimes even giving him tips on what to do with the peels and cores.
