I canβt help but imagine big Simon seeing little simon as his childhood self having a second chance. No monster of a father terrorizing him and his mother. Possibly reminiscing on his good memories with his mom when he watches you and little Simon together. Could big Simon be seeing himself as the father he never had? Vowing to never allow little Simon to go through what he did growing up? π«£
Big Simon definitely wants the best for little Simon, and to a certain extent, he does understand what little Simon might be feeling. Like when you got sick, he saw little Simon's plight and the fear the boy felt, but he also saw the protectiveness when he made him pinky promise.
Little things like that that showcase the bond little Simon has with you. Big Simon can relate to that fierce love for his own mother. And he knows that he deserved a better father, just like he knows little Simon deserves one too. He might deny it or downplay it at first, but big Simon is gonna be the father his wasn't and the father little Simon deserves.
I do plan on bringing in little Simon's bio father for an upcoming fic, and big Simon is for sure gonna let the man know that little Simon (and you) won't have to put up with his bullshit so long as he's around
