I was just thinking of Leon’s reaction and flashbacks when he arrived back in Raccoon City and the R.P.D. His reactions to everything and the flashbacks and the grief and rage he felt.
And the thought occurred to me that if we ever DO get a DLC with Chris and the Hound Wolf Squad, what is *Chris’s* reaction to Raccoon City and possibly the ruins of the R.P.D. going to look like? What is his reaction going to be if he possibly returns to the old S.T.A.R.S. headquarters?
Not to diminish Leon’s experiences of Raccoon City, because that one night changed the entire trajectory of that 21 year old rookie’s life. For Chris Redfield, Raccoon City was his *home* for at least a good 2 years. The STARS was his home and his friends and that entire city holds memories for him that I don’t think he ever truly unpacked when he got word everything was destroyed and there was no going back.
Chris left Raccoon City weeks before the outbreak and its destruction, I’m not sure if he’s ever been back since but the last memory he has of raccoon city is a city *before* the horrors.
Chris Redfield was 25 years old when the Mansion Incident occurred. He was betrayed by his own Captain, thrown into a nightmare that was previously unimaginable, and lost most of friends in horrific ways-several of which he personally witnessed. Chris literally comes across his dead best friend’s mutilated corpse (Forest Speyer) and said best friend then reanimates and Chris is forced to put him to rest with his own hands.
That shit would HAUNT me forever.
Then he and his fellow survivors are thrown under the bus and it really looks like he threw himself into investigating Umbrella with absolutely zero chance to really mourn anyone, or at least that’s how I read into it.
The Mansion Incident occurred in late July, Chris left some time later (by August 24, 1998 according to Jill’s Diary), the Raccoon City outbreak occurred late September and is destroyed by October 1, 1998.
And THEN RE: Code Veronica occurs in late December 1998.
That’s less than half of a year. This man is barely in his mid-20s, he got absolutely NO REST, and now here we are like, 28 years later and it has never stopped for him.
The R.P.D alone, not to mention the memories that the S.T.A.R.S. office is going to bring him if he goes in there (also, still can’t believe Jill’s beret and his old leather jacket survived) is going to be something to see.
I doubt they’d really make any flashbacks for Chris, but it’d be interesting if he has any dialogue of specific memories or events with various S.T.A.R.S. members or of his life in Raccoon City before the nightmare began. Especially if the rest of the Hound Wolf Squad is there.
