Seasonal Hat Storage
It's the time of year for you to start thinking about putting away your winter gear in favor of your summer wardrobe.
First and foremost, realize you DO NOT have to store your Wool Felt hats. Wool breathes naturally and is perfectly acceptable to wear in the spring and summer. For those that would disagree, citing the warmth of wool in summer. Wearing ANYTHING on your head will cause a person to perspire more, your body will adjust. So, keep that in mind...and enjoy your wool felts all year.
However, if you insist that you must store them, take the following precautions:
1. Do not store in any type of plastic container or bag. They are toxic for the material.
2. Clean the hat BEFORE storage, making sure it is clean of dust and stains. Find a reputable cleaner in your area that specializes in hats if needed.
3. Wrap the hat in plain white acid free tissue.
4. Store in a hat box. Any reputable millinery shop will have hat boxes for sale.
5. Place your hat upside down (on the crown, or top of the hat). this will save the brim from flattening out while being stored.
