Midway up Mt. Ebott, at the exit to the underground...
Doggo’s eyes shifted from side to side as he sat at the sentry station. being a sentry wasn’t the most exciting of jobs, but he was glad to still be doing something at least. and it was kind of nice to be up on the mountain rather than in the busy city. all the movin bodies shifting about and almost blending into each other, clouded by the cloaking stench of pollution and human, that smell that he still had trouble separating into individuals, made city life difficult for the dog. then again, he was getting on in years. how much longer could he be a royal guard, he wondered? wearing the official armor too long already felt harsh on his joints.
his eyes flicked over to movement by the trees, but it was just the rustling branches, so he calmed down, his head coming to rest on his paws propped up at the station. he wondered if there would really be more clans appearing. there were already so many, and all that alternate timeline stuff went right over his head. at least it had expanded the selection of dog treat flavors, if nothing else.
there was another flicker of movement to his left, and his head shot up, his ears standing at attention. it was probably just a bird or something, but he listened closely and smelled the air.
there was something different here. a smell that didn’t belong.
a shadow loomed over the dog, and he looked up to see a monster, one familiar and yet so much bigger, so much dirtier, so much more... hungry.
Doggo felt a piercing red eye look directly into his SOUL.
