HEBREWS S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 1
SCRIPTURE:
“You loved righteousness and hated lawless behavior.” “That is why God, your God,” “has anointed you more than your companions with the oil of joy.” ~ Hebrews 1:9
OBSERVATION:
The oil of joy...Â
Loving righteousness and hating lawlessness aren't completely mutually exclusive...Â
I mean, I know - or at least think I know - that I've never hated righteousness...
...but there are times when I know - for certain - that I've not always hated lawless behavior, either...
...and have acted on it...
...and to this day regret it, even after having confessed it and not repeated it...Â
...and know - for certain - why I went through periods without the oil of the joy of my salvation...
And while it's the enemy who tempted and distracted me (and reminds me into regret), it's always been me who went along with it...
But Jesus!
APPLICATION:
Love righteousness
Hate lawlessness
Live joyfully - "regretlessly" - anointed
PRAYER:
Father God - teach me to love righteousness and hate lawless behavior - and please forgive me for the times when I've done neither chasing after my wants and will instead of Yours... remind me that that You are my God, and through Your grace and You have anointed me with the oil of joy... May this joy show in all I think and say and do, through and in Jesus's Name, and for Your glory, honor, and praise...
