i haven't had time to draw it, but i revamped the tuscia sex and gender system: four genders and six sexes.
There are two sex chromosomes and two main mitochondrial DNA alleles that carry genes for primary sex traits. One allele codes for an incubation pouch and the other doesn't. All combos of sex chromosomes code for a sex, so 11, 12, and 22 are all possible. Then the final element is if they have a incubation pouch (.1) or not (.2).
the reproduction path goes: 1) sex, 2) oocyte development, 3) incubation. Steps 2 and 3 can be done by one individual, but sex does require two. No asexual reproduction for the tuscia!
Unlike humans, all parent's mitochondria influence the offspring's presentation. Three sets of mitochondria combine into one, with the repeated allele becoming dominant.
There are tons of intersex variations in such a complicated sex-determining system, from presentation and chromosomes mis-matching to extra chromosomes, to missing chromosomes, to atypical mitochondria integration, leading to some cells with type 1 and some with type 2, etc.
my only named tuscia, Faja, is now a fourth gender (extren), B-sexed (B 11.2) individual. That means fae ranks lowest on the social scale and is able to donate material, but not develop an oocyte or incubate a fetus.
I also have a ton of anatomy ideas but those have to wait till i get a bunch of work-work and schoolwork done
