001) Harry Allen: An early 20th century man who lived in Seattle until his death in 1922. He was a bit of a media sensation once it was discovered he was ‘female’ and although first a media darling, soon became a frequent target for scathing media coverage for not representing female and police capture by being in ‘men’s only’ areas such as bars and saloons. He hated the papers insistence at naming him a woman and slowly spiraled into greater and greater struggles which included a teen pregnancy and being stabbed by his own father as well as the drugs, prostitution and gangs that he had to work with being an at-risk-youth. He was a plucky survivor, and held true to himself even at an early age and is one of my favorite queer figures. #andtheywerequeer #transman #transgender #queerhistory #harrylivingston #harryallen https://www.instagram.com/p/Bou_WePgC8l/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ea8dga4xh1qc
