These articles stuck out to me because it related to a main character in Roswell New Mexico, Alex. In Roswell, they portray Alex as a “war veteran” and he is missing a limb. In a TV show, crippled individuals are rare to come across. But, Roswell does this well. Roswell portrays this as normal and ordinary. This article goes over way TV shows “re-present” the world. If a TV show did not portray any disabled individuals, then one with a disability watching would possibly think they were weird or strange. Or, if one saw a crippled person on TV labeled as evil, they may have an idea that disabled individuals are “evil.” Some even show disabled individuals overcoming obstacles, which is another key point. The way TV shows re-present the world is very important to our society.
