Looking back at a Haredi comic book we've had since I was a child, its treatment of black and native American characters is... Weird. I don't think it's straight up racist, but it's somewhere around "noble savages" at best.

It's not something likely to ever come up in class so it's not common knowledge but there is clear rules not to show the faces. Side profile doesn't count as the face though although I guess some disagree. Don't ask me why I'm sure there's something to it but I can only report that we're told not to do.

I have an rsi so my willingness to type for a hobby varies a lot please don't take it personally. The natives did use glass beads though not what you'd call marbles. Mainly I was thinking about the jewish part. Jews did go to Mexico and then flee the inquisition that's accurate. timeline a little less so. Biggest point was the farm movement in the 1800s was very real and there were a lot of obscure jewish farm towns because the city came with a lot of problems. in some places small cemeteries are all that remains of that jewish history.

I hate to just send a vague post that amounts to yelling "You're wrong!" But I'm like a good jewish grandmother in that I can't let you be wrong in peace. I don't know what hareidi comic you're talking about and I'm sure historical accuracy wasn't their biggest priority but I know my history of the new world and I think you are taking points unnecessarily. I'm far too lazy to write why but if I've made you feel vaguely like you did something wrong it is mission accomplished from this (not) grandmother.
