We’ve have quite a few followers on other platforms and figured it was time to try Tumblr.

We’d love to introduce ourselves. As owners of Elwood's Organic Dog Meat, we do all the work: all the breeding and feeding, milking and culling and quartering--and we do it, right here on the family farm. We get our hands dirty, doing what needs to be done! But we do it all for the dogs. We do it for the "family" "farm."

It’s our passion to teach others about the significance of soil health and why regenerative farming is so important. 🐕 🌾

As a young child, I enjoyed writing. At one point in my life, I had wanted to become an author. Maybe one day I will self-publish a book, but until then this blog will be one of my tools of expression. 

During one of the tougher seasons of my life, I was at the book store where I came across a journal. It was made from leather and it had a small golden tree branded onto it. The moment I saw it, I knew. This was going to be my journal to pour my feelings/thoughts into. The journal has served me well. I’m on a search for another leather journal, but I admit, I am picky. Nothing will ever be quite like my first leather journal. I have come to realize that purchasing a new journal isn’t supposed to be about it being like the first one. As each season change, so do I and that also goes out to my journal and the people in my life. 

A Sunday ago, I was at the beach enjoying the company of people and dogs. It was a beautiful sunny day to relax at the beach and eat some snacks. I think walking down the shoreline of the beach is now my favorite thing to do. I should be more specific, walking down the shoreline of the dog beach is now my favorite thing to do. Watching the faces of the dogs as they jump, play and chase each other reminds me of recess in grade school where the chatter of young kids echo through the playground and field. The multitude of emotions expressed at any given time give rise to the complexity of biological life. You have the mature and the babies. Somewhere in between you have adults and teens, and toddlers. Each one with their own personality, their own experiences and their own way of interacting with the world. Like a male Jack Russell Terrier running lightening fast on the shoreline weaving in and out of people and other dogs with the most happy face a dog can have. 

While I was there, soaking up the sun and the day and the company I shared, a moment of clarity came to me. I was able to write it down in the ‘notes’ app of my phone, but what I really would have wanted was to write in a leather journal. Such a beautiful moment of clarity that came through deserves to be written in a leather journal just as beautiful as that moment was.
