Sitting in the baby carrier buckled around his chest was a small child dressed in a green onesie. Normally, Paulo would never be so unprofessional to bring his child with him to work, but he didn’t really have a choice. The daycare’s hours had been all messed up because of the events and he didn’t have a babysitter. He knew Michael would understand as long as it wasn’t too disruptive. He planned to make it work.

The baby hiccuped.

“Alright, before we begin! Which part of the tour are you the most excited for?”

Sally sighed, rubbing her eyes. She was tired, and not even the joyful live music, the smell of sweet homemade snacks nearby, nor the bright colors of the garlands hanging all over the Main Street’s buildings were enough to keep her distracted and enthusiastic. After a while, it all seemed to blur together, and soon she had an unexpected and very unwelcome headache. 

“Tissue flowers... Tissue flowers...”

The seamstress blinked and opened her eyes, as wide as she could, trying to keep herself alert. Not a single blossom sold yet. She had arranged a little makeshift marketstall, with a foldable table, a foldable chair, and several baskets and old jars, props of the community theater, filled to the brim with tissue flowers. All of them made by herself, during the many empty hours at Jack’s Attic desk, as a way to keep her hands distracted and working. All sorts of flowers, though most of them were quite big: the biggest were easiest, therefore there were more of these, and so Sally seemed small, next to the huge bouquets or orange, yellow, purple, pink and red carnations, marigolds, daffodils, hyacinth, tulips and crocus.

“Tissue flowers, tissue flowers!” Sally called, loud enough to be heard, but soft enough to not cover the sound of the music. She wanted to sell her wares, not to be a public nuisance. “Tissue flowers for the lovebirds, for the family, for the self-loving! Tissue flowers to welcome the spring! Handmade with care! Singles or in bouquets, tissue flowers for days!”

Elsa wasn’t sure where she wanted to go first during this festival, she didn’t think Anna would go with her considering she might be going with Kristoff so she left early in the morning to see everything set up, some had been working the night to get everything ready. Honestly she felt like a headless chicken, she should have planned this better. “Excuse me do you mind if I tag along for a bit?” She asked the first person that crossed her eye.

As the guitars and violins started up, she straightened, took one last breath and put on a winning smile before strutting out onto the stage out towards the center. She’d toiled over what song to pick but in the end, she decided to pay homage to a fellow drag queen by performing Mama Don’t Make Me Put on the Dress Again.

She took the mic and brought it to her lips, starting to sing the lyrics. Her voice was feminine, though a distinct edge to it that gave it unique quality. She spun and strutted the stage to the lyrics, looking out at everyone on the dance floor and beyond. During her usual nightly performances, she could never see anyone with the lights shining on her. Here, with sunlight streaming, she could see everyone, dancing, laughing, chatting. For awhile, as she sang, all she could do was watch.

Rachel was early for just about everything, and the Hootenanny was no exception. She’d been at the party almost since they opened the beautifully decorated gated, enjoying some socialising with her parents and their friends until her own friends arrived. By the time anyone she knew was there, the music was already going strong and the crowds were bustling, making it difficult to find a seat or somewhere to stand without being jostled. Eventually, she went on the hunt for anyone she might know and decided the best place for it was by the wall with all the Chest of Hope stuff on it, because surely at least one of her friends would come by to read something eventually, right?

As if right on cue, she spotted a familiar face, though it was significantly less grumpy than the first time she saw him. A spring in her step and wave followed, and Rachel called across the crowd. “Toulouse!! Over here!”

     THE MUSEUM WAS DECORATED BEAUTIFULLY, but Belle was more interested in the paintings that lined the walls. They were opened up for the Spring Festival, and they were just as beautiful as the town touted. The rich historical paintings; the ones of townsfolk from years ago. What really got Belle, though, were the paintings in the back of the museum. Sprawling landscapes of castles; stained glass dancers. She found herself staring at them now, watching as the colors danced on the ground, lit by the sun that streamed into the room. 

     As someone sidled up next to her, she leaned a bit closer and smiled. “It’s quite interesting that they’re anonymous,” she said, shaking her head. “Someone this talented deserves the recognition, if you ask me.”

“Do you think we’ll ever get to see the whole thing?” Alice asked no one in particular.
