I'm still thinking about this, hear me out.

Hanzo, heir to the Shimada Corporation, and Cole, young recruit for the new militant 'peacekeeping' organization overwatch, went and got married when they were young and dumb and in love, but a series of unfortunate events (in which Hanzo’s father/the board(?) thought Cole was a bad influence and preyed on both their insecurities) led them to get divorced.

However, and in the true spirit of Sweet Home Alabama, it turns out the paperwork was fudged and Hanzo, now much older and running Shimada Corp, must find Cole to finalize the divorce and appease the board while both deal with old feelings that never quite died in the process.

I really don't mind the name Cole Cassidy, it's still a very cowboy name. I think it fits him.

Think of it like Fynn Riders revealing his name is actually Eugene Fitzhurburt.

I think Cole saw a western and a kid and created the persona of Jesse McCree when he tried to make a name for himself like one of the cowboys he saw in the movies.
