Who Are You: School 2015 Late Review
Huuhuhu
This is my thoughts on Who Are You: School 2015.
Alright, iām going to straight up say that while watching this entire drama, I was very, very, biased. I watched this show because Nam Joo Hyuk was in it but I never expected I would love it so much. Iāll admit that the first two episodes had me cringing and doubting whether I would really complete the drama. However, the story got more and more interesting and I though, hey, maybe Iāll do a review on it!
THIS particular post is going to be solely on the love triangle of the characters, Iāll make a post about the actual story soon, but because I came for Nam Joo Hyuk, this is just going to be about the love situation. I watched the drama on Viki, and the app has timed comments, meaning you can see whatever the comments are about at that particular scene. Although this is the unpopular opinion, I was rooting for Yi An and Eun Bi, hereās why.
First of all, their interactions were much more interesting. I feel like EunBi acted like she was lowkey playing TaeKwang and he couldnāt see it. He believed he had a chance because she would tell him things she wouldnāt tell Yi An, and he found out about her being EunBi and not EunByul first. I get that, they definitely did have a connection. But EunBi and Yi An being together seemed so much moreā¦real, and honestly, he may have had a crush on EunByul, but he fell for EunBiās character. It was a type personality that EunByul didnāt have, and from their interactions, I wasnāt surprised at all when Yi An picked EunBi over EunByul.
Secondly, the way that EunBi treated Taekwang. Maybe treated isnāt the right word. I feel that yes, EunBi had been nice to him, she opened up to him and he did the same. But it also seemed that Taekwang was doing waaaaaayyyy too much for her. They had barely met and he was already promising to keep such a big secret so she wouldnāt get hurt. I donāt know about you, but I think thatās a huge responsibility to keep on your shoulders. Their lighthearted friendship was amazing, it was the ultimate goal, even for me, to have a relationship like that. But I feel like EunBi never had feelings for TaeKwang and that really sucked that he had suffer the short end of the stick, without realizing he was there the whole time.
The third point isnāt really related to the whole drama, but DAMN. The comments on Yi An were so harsh!!! Yes, he couldnāt deal with the pain, yes, he was in denial, and yes, maybe to some viewers TaeKwang and EunBi were a better match, but put yourself in his shoes! Yi An had fallen for a girl who he believed to be EunByul, and if you were being told āoh no Iām the twinā after all that the two of you had shared together (after her incident), wouldnāt you feel overwhelmed and hurt? Yi An also said that he āliked the new EunByul betterā, so I donāt understand why everyoneās so butthurt about the identity change and who he chose in the end. If he liked EunBiās character and wanted to be with her, thatās a greater reason for why they should end up together.
Fourth point, do you know how much goddamned suffering Yi An had to go through in episodes 9 and 10 when nearly everything was being revealed to him so fast? AND he was told that he had to stop swimming for a year? Everything he did, he did it for EunBi. He knew in his heart that she wasnāt EunByul but he still risked so much for her. Yes, he wanted to deny it but by the time he was hospitalized, he knew. He freaking knew that it wasnāt EunByul. Itās not his fault for shunning people out when heād been through so much, and that he needed time to process it all. He isnāt some sort of god, he wonāt know what to do when everything is being thrown at him, when heās trying to protect himself and EunBi.
Overall, I thought that Yi An deserved to choose who he wanted. If EunBi liked him and did all the things she tried when he was going through his slight depression, if they still liked each other, then they have every right to be with each other.
