The WiSA Association To Demonstrate New Wireless Speakers, Audio Hubs, and Television HDMI Adapter At The 2013 CEDIA Expo
By Paul Konikowski, CTS-D
I am excited to be working with The WiSA Association again at this year’s CEDIA Expo in Denver September 26-28, 2013. We will be located in Sound Room 13, so stop by for a live demonstration of upcoming audio products from Klipsch, Paradigm, and Onkyo, and other WiSA Members. Sharp will be showcasing their wireless Universal Player that sends high grade audio to high-end speakers and wireless video to the HDTV. Learn how WiSA-compliant wireless speakers are different from other wireless speakers, and why they sound so much better. But don’t take my word for it, judge for yourself. HEARING IS BELIEVING!
In addition to demonstrating new 2.1, 5.1, and 7.1 wireless speaker systems being developed by our Members, we will also be showcasing the new WiSA-compliant HDMI Adapter and Audio Hub designs recently announced by Hansong. The WiSA-compliant HDMI adapter acts as the wireless transmitter and takes the audio tracks from the HDMI signal and sends them wirelessly to the WiSA-compliant speakers.
The more advanced product, the audio hub, allows for two more HDMI inputs, as well as an Optical and analog audio inputs. Users can adjust the sweet spot using their phone, tablet, or an on screen display. Both the audio hub and the HDMI dongle offer a Bluetooth connection for streaming music. But please let me make it clear that the WiSA speakers do NOT use Bluetooth technology because it simply cannot transmit or receive high definition uncompressed audio. The Bluetooth option is only for streaming and setup. All WiSA speakers use the available DFS channels in the 5GHz band.
If you want to learn more about the 5GHz band and legal implications, you should join WiSA Chief Technologist, Alan Ruberg, and I for a special 30 minute technical session entitled “How To Utilize the 5 GHz U-NII Band to Achieve Interference Free Audio (And Stay Legal).” The session will be located on the stage in the New Solutions Village at 10am on Friday September 27, 2013. Read more here.
See you in Sound Room 13 – P.K.

19th century Korea. Literally years before the Japanese occupation, The Great Han Empire (also known as the Korean Empire) tried to catch up and implement new western ideology and technology. The first Korean electric company Hansong, the first Korean rail car, and the first western influenced palace was built under Emperor Gojong's reign.
