Akiha weave tenugui hand towel
Tenugui hand towels, lightly woven from hand-spun cotton yarn using the ‘Akiha’ technique. Photograph 1 by Shuhei Tonami
The Akiha weave is characterised by gaps left between the threads in places. These gaps provide excellent breathability and create a textured, shaded appearance. Produced in the village of Fulia, located in West Bengal, India, where the tradition of hand-weaving thrives. It is crafted by highly skilled, experienced artisans.
Available in three sizes and colourways. Tenugui are incredibly versatile in everyday life—whether worn like a scarf or used to add a touch of colour to a room. It also makes a lovely gift.
