Raising Money Through Crafts and Walks
Hey Everyone!
I wanted to share with you a bit more on why I’ve created HandmadeForACure and about the walks that I am participating in over the next several months.
The first walk that I am doing is the Walk MS Denver event. It’s coming up soon (12 Days!). One of my Aunt’s best friends was diagnosed with MS and is doing this walk as a way to fundraise for an organization that does a lot to help people who have MS. You can donate here.
The second event that I am doing is for the Susan G. Komen Colorado South Race For The Cure (in 146 Days). The event (and the rest of the events) I am doing in honor of my Aunt Paula. Because of this the team’s name is Team Paula Marie Martinez. You can donate to the team here.
I am also doing the Susan G. Komen Colorado Race for the Cure in Denver a couple of weeks later (in 160 days). The team is also formed to honor my Aunt. You can donate here.
The final event that I am currently registered for is the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Denver. While this is after all of the other ones it is the one that I registered for first and the one that currently has the most members on the team. Like the previous two events the team’s name is Team Paula Marie Martinez. You can learn more about why we’ve decided to do this even on the Team page and if you feel so inclined you can donate here.
I plan on registering for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk in Denver for this October soon. I will post the link one I am registered.
In order to potentially raise more money I also started the etsy store HandmadeForACure.This shop is a place where I hand make (right now mostly crocheted) items to sell and 100% of the proceeds go directly to one of these events listed above. Each item lists what event the proceeds from it will go to. Right now I don’t have as many items for people to choose from as I wish I could, but come summer when I graduate college I hope to have a lot more time to design a lot more items and maybe expand the mediums in which people can purchase items (painted, crocheted, cross-stitched, etc.).
