Once you find a well fitting bodice, you can make many different dresses by choosing different fabrics, swapping out the skirt, altering the neckline, altering or omitting the sleeve, adding cuffs or ruffles, adding collars, or adding a sash!

These dresses are all made using the bodice and sleeve of McCall’s 7188. All of them have in seam pockets, some matching and some in fun prints. A facing or bias tape may be used to finish the neckline. i have dates for most of them bc i keep track in my notes.

dress 1: Jan 2018-Feb 2018. Black floral cotton from Joann’s. bottom puffed sleeve with 1/4” elastic casing. 1/2 circle skirt.

dress 2: Mar 14 ‘18. pink daisy keepsake calico cotton from Joann’s. “Dorothy” (casual) gathered skirt. V-neck. Base sleeve.

dress 3: Mar 15-17 ‘18. floral cotton print i got on sale at a Joann’s in Dallas. Vintage inspired tiered gathered peasant skirt. V-neck. shortened base sleeve.

dress 4: Sept 16-22, Nov 4 ‘18. seasonal red plaid printed cotton from hobby lobby. 1/2 circle skirt. pointed peter pan collar. false placket on bodice front. cuffed base sleeve.

dress 5: Nov 23, Dec 12-14 ‘18. Navy and red plaid polyester suiting from Joann’s. full circle skirt. pointed peter pan collar. long base sleeve. added buttons for matching button on sash.

dress 6: Dec 17-19 ‘18. black and green gingham printed cotton from Joann’s. full gathered skirt with 3 1/4” hem. squared neckline and faced button up front. ruffle trimmed long base sleeve. WIP— needs buttons, buttonholes, and hand stitched hem.

dress 7: Jan 13, Mar 15-19, Apl 19 ‘19. Cotton panda print from novelty section at Joann’s. gathered skirt with wide ruffle. base sleeve with ruffle.

dress 8: Apl 17-21 ‘19. Not part of my everyday wardrobe bc it’s a cosplay, but it does use M 7188 as a base. green floral cotton print in 108” width from Joann’s. white cotton lace from Hobby Lobby. pintucked bodice with false placket. tailored gigot sleeves with six tucks each and layered lace trim. Full gathered skirt with 2 tucks and lace. pointed peter pan collar.
