Lance and Hunk are the most caring and "family-oriented" people on their team, that's a fact. Of course, even knowing this didn't prepare Pidge and Keith for being treated like the team's "adopted kids." Pidge got used to it pretty fast (mostly because she’s known those two the longest), but Keith? He was completely lost. At the same time, Keith took his "role"... well, way too seriously.

Though Hunk is also the first person to clock Lance’s shit when he starts tweaking about his gay awakening crush Keith lmao.
Also the first time Pidge witnesses this they are so confused they get genuinely scared whenever Lance invites them to a sleepover. The rest of the team doesn’t get it once they get stuck in space cuz they will be arguing and Lance will just out of nowhere be like "hey Pidge, how about we have a sleepover tonight?" And Pidge just starts screeching and throwing things at him while he and Hunk both die from laughter. (Pidge doesn’t actually care their asexual self just doesn’t wanna see that and is traumatized from attempting to kiss Lance once and realizing they DO NOT like kissing boys)
Shiro is chill with Lance and Hunk basically cuddling and acting like a couple all the time (he genuinely thought they were dating at first) but Keith? The first time this dumbass witnesses it he gets so upset he nearly cuts up every training robot. He’s not even sure why he’s mad, but he is. To the point that he grumpily glares at them whenever Lance will flop into Hunks lap for cuddles after a mission. Lance thinks Keith is just being a jerk but Hunk is all his wisdom eventually just grabs Keith by the waist and yanks him over. Forcing him into the cuddle pile and just smiling contently when Keith has a computer dial up moment. This concludes in a very red Keith koala hugging Lance and burying his face in Hunks chest for like three hours while Lance and Hunk are just chilling like normal. (Pidge catches them and just goes "are you fucking kidding me" before giving in and cuddling up to Hunks side as well while working on their computer)
