“When I show a film, I am guilty of deceit. I use an apparatus which is constructed to take advantage of a certain weakness, an apparatus with which I can sway my audience in a highly emotional manner – make them laugh, scream with fright, smile, believe in fairy stories, become indignant, feel shocked, charmed, deeply moved”
Ingmar Bergman (pictured during the making of Hamnstad)

Port of Call (Ingmar Bergman, 1948) like a ship to india, this also spawns from someone returning after 8 years at sea. and like s ship to india, it's also pretty good. these are of a more typical storytelling mode, but i didn't expect to see some of his methods and themes so intact so early. really nice documentary-like scenes down at the dock. that's allways a plus for me.
