Oooooh now I want a fic of little Dunk being a soulmate to Baelor and hearing all the horror stories of smallfolk mating a noble of them being killed or worse and just running, and keeps running anytime he hears about Targaryens being close by. Ser Arlan also thinks this is a good plan and helping to hide him at the close call at the joust at Storm End, cut to Dunk and Egg at Ashford and Egg sees his mark and gets happy and excited until Dunk bursts his bubble with all the horrible stores and tells Egg to run if he ever mates a noble especially a Targaryen see as Egg is a dragonseed and even worse happens to dragon seeds and their mates. Egg of course horrified and heartbroken runs to his father and uncle after Dunk falls asleep to tell him its not true because "Uncle you've been looking for him! Please tell me it not to kill your mate because he's one of the smallfolk! Please Aerion killing his mate for not being enough for him I can see but not you uncle Baelor PLEASE!?!?
Dunk, bless his heart, is unfortunately the most oblivious man in all of Westeros. A fact Egg figures out rather quickly in my reincarnated villain AU when he watches him interact with his family.
He loves his muña, don't get him wrong! He really does! But even he has to recognise that it's getting ridiculous. Dunk just will not recognise any sort of deeper emotion he elicits in others while being fully convinced he's but a simple guard/basically a nanny.
Baelor doing the dragonshifter equivalent to peacocking about in front of him? Ignored.
Maekar trying to be hostile towards him due to jealousy over Dunk 'stealing' his long-lost son from him? Not addressed.
The rest of the court trying to play political games and trying to manipulate him? Disregarded.
Dunk is just head empty, eyes forward, "I wanna make sure Egg gets to fulfil his destiny without dying myself! No way am I messing with the story in any way shape or form by lying low" going through the motions much to the bewilderment of everyone else. In a world of intrigues and double meanings, it is surprisingly refreshing to meet someone who has the skills of a brick wall to the face. You'd think that would mean Dunk is easy fodder to bad actors when in reality his complete non-involvement in anything political makes him pretty well protected! Add to that that he's got the backing of the king and he's pretty secure.
This also leads to the funny event of some random newcomer attempting to frame Dunk for some crime, Dunk panicking trying to plead for his innocence seeing his past role as a villain, and the court just blowing past it in the vein of "Seriously? Ser DUNCAN??? That's who you think is capable of this typa plot??? The dude who cried when the royal princesses made him a flower crown this morning??? That's who you wanna accuse?"

just had this idea literally crashing inside my brain
baelor on a cruise with his family, but they signed him up for the “love cruise” program – his kids’ idea, even though he is perfectly fine on his own thank you very much (when jena heard, she couldn’t stop laughing for thirty minutes. sometimes she’ll call him just to laugh in his face because it’s that hilarious to her).
he’s expecting to meet some semi-interesting people, maybe go on a few dates, and then go back home, still single, still fine with it.
what he’s not expecting it to fall deeply in love with the young man taking care of the pools on the decks that also dabbles in bartending (“i’m only helping out for a few nights, ser”) and serenading the guests with the cruise band (“tanselle needed help, ser” “you are very good nonetheless, duncan. and please, it’s baelor”).
well, a young stepfather is what his kids deserve anyways, after pulling this on him (and using his credit card to pay for it, on top of it all).
Imagine all of Duncan’s suitors competing in a joust or something idk and they’re all tripping over each other to see who can get his favour first.
