▪️IDF ON SOCIAL MEDIA LEAKS - It has been discovered that Hamas managed before October 7 to establish a huge intelligence apparatus based on information obtained from the social networks of IDF soldiers and monitoring them for years - including detailed information on IDF based, and even details of IDF equipment such as weak points of Israeli tanks.

The IDF is launching a broad initiative to try to curb the phenomenon.  A new technological system based on artificial intelligence, will track all the accounts of IDF soldiers on social networks - and check every post they upload - texts, pictures, videos, to verify whether they reveal sensitive information (bases, outposts, classified weapons, or any other information) - and if necessary, escalate the cases for review by information security officers.

In the case of a soldier who posted content that reveals information and violates security rules - he will receive an automatic notification informing him that he has violated the rules and is required to delete the post, and if necessary, will also receive a phone call from an information security officer.

However, it will only monitor open and public accounts of soldiers on the networks and will not monitor reservist soldiers, who are civilians, and such monitoring raises legal difficulties.

During a trial run monitoring 45,000 soldiers, there have already been thousands of cases that the system escalated.  The IDF admits this pushes the limits of privacy vs. information security, but believes it is necessary considering Oct. 7 findings that this information was actively used against Israel.

🇨🇳UN SHENANIGANS - Chinese Premier Xi congratulated the UN meeting held yesterday to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

♦️SAMARIA - IDF with a vague statement: the IDF, Shin Bet, and Border Police forces began operating last night (Wednesday) as part of a large-scale operation to thwart terrorism in the northern Samaria area.  The IDF and Shin Bet will not allow the establishment of terrorism in the area and are proactively working to thwart it.

The operation began last night with the encirclement of the "Pentagon of the Villages" area in the northeastern Samaria (the areas of the villages of Tamun, Tubas, and others), and was aided by attack helicopters that struck from the air. Forces equivalent to 3 brigades entered for arrests and searches for weapons.  The reason for the operation: intelligence agencies identified attempts to establish new and extensive terror infrastructures in these villages, and an increase in terror incidents against security forces since last August.

✡️Erev (before) Shabbat, Parshat (Torah reading) Vayelech - "And [Moses] went.” The Parshah of Vayelech (“and he went”) recounts the events of Moses’ last day of earthly life. “I am one hundred and twenty years old today,” he says to the people, “and I can no longer go forth and come in.” He transfers the leadership to Joshua, and writes (or concludes writing) the Torah in a scroll which he entrusts to the Levites for safekeeping in the Ark of the Covenant.

💩NORMAL HOUTHI LIES - Houthi spokesperson:   Last night we launched a ballistic missile with a cluster warhead towards "several sensitive targets in occupied Tel Aviv-Jaffa".

▪️THE SELFIE FLOTILLA - gets complicated, as now Greece also announces: The Greek fleet will ensure the safety of the Gaza flotilla.

▪️SPAIN CANCELS another arms deal with Israel - worth 200 million euros.  With a desperate need for armaments in NATO given the increasing threat from Russia, Spain is letting their ‘moral outrage’ override their very practical need.

▪️ANOTHER IRANIAN AGENT INDICTED - for gathering information on the previous IDF chief Halevi, and on Nat. Sec. Minister Ben Gvir.  This one was a Satmar Chassid, unfortunately Iran has been successful in recruiting from all segments of Israeli society, mostly for money but a few cases for ideological reasons.

▪️(NOT) A SECURITY EVENT, JERUSALEM - a white Tesla vehicle was stopped in Jerusalem on Sokolov Street in a driving lane.  The driver got out and attacked girls on the sidewalk and residents on the road while shouting and rampaging, after which he he got into his car and drove off.  

The police estimate that the incident is a mental health issue following a previous similar outburst, and efforts are being made to track him down quickly.

🎗️MULTIPLE SUPPOSED STATEMENTS from US President Trump and US envoy Witkoff that ‘a hostage deal could happen soon’.  This seems to conflict directly with statements by Hamas officials that Hamas has not changed or weakened any (unacceptable) positions.

♦️GAZA CITY - The Israeli Air Force struck over 140 targets in the Gaza Strip in the past day, the military says.  The targets hit by the IAF included terror operatives, tunnels, buildings used by terror groups, and other infrastructure, according to the IDF.  In Gaza City, the military says the 98th, 36th, and 162nd divisions continue to destroy Hamas sites -- including tunnels -- kill operatives, and locate weapons amid a new offensive against Hamas.

Locals report heavy IDF use of drone-APC’s, some acting as very large suicide drones, others placing large explosive packages and driving off.  

The 282nd Artillery Regiment shelled some 35 sites in Gaza City, buildings used by Hamas.

Although the reports emphasize the IDF taking a slow and careful approach, they appear to be making relatively rapid progress in taking control of Gaza City and confronting Hamas.

♦️BLUE ON BLUE - A fighter jet launched a missile at a target in the city of Gaza.  Due to a technical malfunction, the missile hit the sea less than a hundred meters from an IDF navy ship.

🌎WORLD NEWS OF NOTE - the ‘drone interference’ across Europe continues: Radio France Internationale (RFI) now reports that unidentified drones also entered the airspace over military sites in Mormelon-la-Grande, France, during the weekend.
