"Here — I, uh, made you some tea,” the blonde offered with a tight-lipped smile, placing a warm mug next to Haley’s station. The two had been working together for a couple of months now and despite growing up in the same town, they’d never actually spent time together. Perhaps interacting at work didn’t exactly constitute as ‘hanging out’, but at least Helena was making an effort — something she didn’t do very often for those outside of her close relationships. “I didn’t know what kind you liked, so I just went with chamomile. I figure since there ain’t any caffeine, it wouldn’t make your hand start to shake or nothin’. I dunno ‘bout you but when I even have a sip of coffee I feel like I can’t stay steady.”

“It’s okay, buddy,” Chelsea bent to scoop Jack up and out of his stroller. Stood and bounced him in her arms while she waited for Haley to arrive at the Black Sea Grill. She rubbed circles into his back. He wasn’t crying yet--but his fussing was getting there. It’d been an abnormally hard afternoon. He was usually a quiet boy. She’d gotten his cries down pat -- hungry, tired, uncomfortable, sad. This was something different. Maybe he was getting sick? She wasn’t sure, but she worried. Walked around the table, jiggling the little boy on her hip, to soothe him. Didn’t even notice it when Haley walked in until Jack reached a hand out to grab the woman.
