2 celebrate here is a concept for you to ponder if you wish. If dirk and hal were to date around, who would they date and how would the other react... they're always in each other's business so im sure they'd always have something to say

I may be flashing my aro too much (or maybe just my bias to dirkhal,) but i dont think they would perchance. I think Dirk knows he’s not in a place to maintain a normal healthy relationship and I think he’s even in denial about what he and Hal have going on being one at all. Very ‘i will work on myself first’ and then absolutely fumbles his way into a relationship with Hal because he cannot help himself. Whenever Roxy is like oohh so ur like <3< ? Hes like no ?? No??? No I’m just taking care of him. The kissing is unrelated.

I don’t think Hal gets around enough early on and I think he’s got a lot of problems with ‘are they seeing me as me or seeing me as Him’ and would mostly pursue relationships(platonic) with people who had little to no association with Dirk, and that even then he’d still be uninterested in pursuing a Real(tm) romantic interest. He’s more likely to have a purely fwb set up with someone but itd be pretty heavily we a factor of chasing the need to be wanted, the desire to feel positive sensations in the body, and To Bother Dirk A Little. I think he has 1 guy who is a real stand out opportunity for a romantic connection in troll romance style and that’s probably davesprite but ik some folks don’t fw that so I’ll gloss past it.

I think Hal cares that Dirk is noticeably not getting the fuck around and assumes this has deeper meaning about Dirk and His relationship (it does) and this is uniquely confusing and distressing and great, it comes up mostly when he’s trying to needle him and Dirk gets hostile (a very “but we both know you like me, Dirk, you at the very least want me alone”)

Dirk Cares if Hal is getting ass because What Do You Mean I’m Inadequate In Sating That. It’s subconscious, he’s frustrated that Hal gives him something he can’t get anywhere else and yet he can’t do the same back. He thinks it’s indication that Hal’s unsatisfied, or that it’s being done somewhat to challenge or bother him (always with an ulterior motive.) Chances are for purely hookups hed somehow ask Hal to stop, or indicate its driving him fucking insane and Hal can decide if he cares, it’d probably be in an argument. Hal asks Dirk for a favor and gets hit with ‘why dont you ask x’ and hes like ohhhhhh youre a big jealous baby. You’re a whiny baby. Fine. And offers to stop, because after all, it is pretty much just for fun.
