the problem for wackner is that cord acknowledges he only has the authority the participants in his court grant him? like ok, I don't think cord would actually say openly that he'd start another court if he didn't like wackner's ruling, that's silly of him if he's spent any time with the man, but like.............that's what the show is making a big deal of? the man has no problem believing he can divide the state of illinois in half but suggest to him that if he can do that the reason isn't some kind of inherent goodness and authority and you get a tantrum?
(yes, of course, he's always been an authoritarian nightmare dressed in earnestness. but we're like three weeks past that earnestness making any sense or even really showing. if he was going to have an emotional reaction to the limits of his authority and the idea that a supporter doesn't take his court that seriously, he should've done that before he dressed a guy up in devil horns to spout nonsense for the cameras.)
