S1E17-18
Oh did I love the Karasuno vs Dateko match. Watching back,I can now tell that this was the match where we got to see what Karasuno was about to become. Everyone improved on their own personal levels after the previous match with Dateko. Asahi's spikes kept getting blocked by the iron wall. Noya couldn’t save the blocked points. Suga couldn’t help with his tosses. And it obviously brought a halt in the team's overall spirit. But of course, my Karasuno boys know resilience. Even if one doubts himself,he never doubts his teammates. It's the new source of power the first year's brought to the team and their overall will to keep doing better was what made this match so so satisfying to watch.
THIS SCENE. Holds so much power.
We see them using multiple techniques they learned from Nekoma–which is something I find very very cool as well. They didn’t win a single match against Nekoma but they sure learned how to properly use the same methods that were used against them. Seeing Asahi do the back attacks were honestly, so hot. But on a sentimental level,we know how much it meant for him to finally break the iron wall that made him want to quit volleyball at one point. It was so cool seeing him as the ace that he is. And for that,we have to give credits to the best decoy ever.
This was also the match where Hinata overcomes his insecurity about being a decoy. Of course, wherever he may be in the court, the spotlight will never miss him. And knowing how much he wanted to be the ace himself, it was very refreshing to hear him say, "Even if I didn’t score,it felt so incredible." I also looooooved the fact that Kageyama was able to build the trust with his teammates. Especially with Asahi, since a big part of what made Asahi the ace was the trust he had in his setter Sugawara. And also Nishinoya. NISHINOYA. ALWAYS. SAVES THE DAY.
I wonder how any team player can have trust issues. I mean they'd have to be in a team like Karasuno for starters. But wow. THAT LEG SAVE. Knowing that he spent all his time in suspension practicing block follows after their last match with Dateko really makes this scene a glorious one. And him being the connector truly pieces together every missing bit of the last Dateko match.
And of course. Suga still manages to blow our minds without even playing the match. It makes me see bench players from a different perspective. He was capable of changing the whole dynamic of the game even while sitting on the bench. I love him. I love Haikyuu!!
Oh and this was just so cute. Big scary Aone being appreciative of our Chibichan.
