Like any other night, it was chilly, and the breeze that constantly went down my back never helped. The bench was uncomfortable, and the thin jacket that I used as a blanket never helped, but I didn't complain. Others had it worse than me. Much, much worse.
Tonight felt..different. Not like any other nights, whether it was the full moon or..maybe the different temperatures? It was becoming summer.
I just hoped that I didn't get attacked tonight. This was in monster territory, and monsters were known to be threatening and cold. Though some seemed to tolerate humans, they did seem to resent us, for reasonable terms too. The last thing I thought was a small prayer of protecting before sleep finally took me to sweet, deafening silence.
The muffle of sleep kept me from fully waking up when someone, someone cold, jostled me slightly awake.
"H-woah, sorry lil' thin'. Didn't see ya there." A voice gently muttered, who was that? Certainly not someone I knew, but my tiredness refused to let me react as I stretched, wrapping my arms around what I thought was the bench arm before falling asleep.
Rus jumped, the human wrapped their arms around his! What was he going to do now? He panicked, trying to gently tug, and fail, their arm off of his, but it appeared the human had a vice-like grip in their sleep. He sighed, shifting the groceries he had in one hand, and picked up the human in the other. If he couldn't leave it behind, he'll just have to bring it with him.
He carried the human with ease as he walked, preparing for the inevitable argument that Black would throw once he spotted the little stow-away.
Rus, as quietly as he could, closed the front door. Maybe Black had gone to bed early, and he wouldn't notice the huma-
"TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH TO GET BACK."
Rus froze, breaking out in a sweat as he tried to hide the sleeping human's form behind his sleeve. "Uh, heh, y-yeah m'lord, I got a bit..distracted." He could see his brother's eyelight's sharpen at the statement, standing up and slowly walking forward to his sweating, and obviously nervous brother.
"DISTRACTIONS CAN GET YOU KILLED. YOU KNOW THAT PAPYRUS." Rus flinched, knowing truly that his brother was worried since his true name had been stated, though the flinching was a mistake due to the bloody screech that Black gave out after.
"WHAT IN QUEEN TORIEL'S NAME IS THAT?!?" At the scream, the human woke up with a start, staring wildly at Black first, then traveling to who was holding her, Rus, who simply said,
"Well, a stray m'lord."
