A couple of weeks ago, Cyber Connect 2 revealed their next project for their 30th anniversary: .hack//Z.E.R.0.
As soon as I saw the trailer, I knew I had to make a new piece of art for this. No news on whether or not this is a full-on ground-up reboot for the .hack franchise or the next chapter in the story, all we know is the following:
This is the first self-published title in the .hack franchise, made with permission from publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment.
CC2 has stated they are "starting from zero" with this title.
The game is currently in early stages of development
While we don't know the full story yet, concept art released suggests the real world will have a bigger role in the story, being accessible outside of desktop screens and email. And the trailer released suggests that social media will also play a role in the story.
Whatever comes of this project, I look forward to seeing what comes next.
